I have officially decided that Thursday nights are definitely the new Friday nights in Bangkok, especially in Sukhumvit Soi 11. After David Dunne’s appearance last week at Q Bar, this week, we have a “Twist It Up,” and “Twisted Ice,” launch party at Twisted Republic, a so-called interactive bar opened last November, that is now well, fully activated!

The night begins as early as 8.30 and trust me, it was pretty full from the front to the side, to the inside, crowds range from the hi-so celebrities, well known rappers, and countless VIP guests, and media. Of course, we went inside, loving the idea of one and a half hour free bar, by 9.30, we were pretty much tipsy and that’s when the show begins.

As the song, “Ready or not here we come ..,” started playing, you’d see this guy in white shirt, actually jumping down from the second floor to do his unforgettable break dance to the tunes. The second martial art man may not jump down from the second floor, more like from a speaker, but hey, his dance moves was pretty damn entertaining, startled in fact! Word is, some of us even misses the show because they were too caught up in the Vodka Ice Bar, wearing Siberian hats and coats, drinking the vodka shot away, feeling the minus 14 degrees breeze.

It won’t be a surprise if you happen to be in Soi 11, standing near Twisted, and you actually hear people screaming, “I love Thailand,” apparently it’s a verse of a song from the guests rappers that is quite catchy, easy to remember, hell, that repeated verse even got foreigners singing along!

I have been to Twisted Republic before but this launch party simply impressed me, and of course, you can still visit the Ice Bar and dance to the recognizable hip-hop tracks every Thursday night. See, Thursdays might be the new Fridays, keep your self updated next week but for now check out our gallery to see the fun!
