Black Market Mondays @ BED
The ‘go green’ theme is certainly the new circulation in our world’s today and BED Supperclub sure knows the way around to save our planet earth. The Black Market Mondays is BED’s latest theme featuring no electricity, using paper straws instead of the plastic ones, walking into BED you’ll surely get the ‘intimate’ feeling almost like you’re home in the dark except at BED, you will find yourself entertained by the Woodoo Jungle band.
Kung and Ter, the two voodoo look-a-likes will playing at BED, their instruments itself are definitely green, since no electricity will be needed for that! As we entered the white room section, the always-vibrant bright room turned dimmed, we were quite surprised with their decorations. Think white, super long candles carefully lined up in the middle of the room, surrounded it are the ostrich, one white, and one kind of far out artistic, giving you the I’m-in-the-jungle feeling.
But what stunned me most was the Woodoo Jungle team, their music using the didgeridoo, drum, and Djembe, the ah-ah-ah tunes certainly drives my imagination wild. You might feel like you are somewhere in Africa when listening to them perform and let’s face it, where can you find this kind of tribal, true tribal music, in the lower Sukhumvit, in fact, the whole damn road!
I couldn’t resist but to have a one on one talk with Kung and Ter, part of the Woodoo Jungle, pondering what inspires them to play the instruments, “I love something new, well it started years ago but honestly, you need to have the ‘love’ for tribal music to actually play this,” Ter said.
You may think that these two men are probably single and playing music for a living but behind their so very indie appearance, Kung is with a child while Ter is actually a painter! I found out later that their opening song for the Black Market Monday is called, “Kiss Monkey,” the title itself is appealing but trust me, my words can’t probably describe the tunes.
