The Assumptions

“Men, you know how they are,” is one of my usual lines I use with my friends, not only to the girls but to the guys as well. By that I mean, I am not surprised if one of my girlfriends discover the fact that her boyfriend and her ex boyfriend were in the same bedroom doing a different girl next to each other, foursome, you may call it?

Or the fact that she happens to be dating this oh-so-very-nice guy only to find out that he has a 15 year-old girlfriend to the we are friends but “I-call-you-everyday-every night,” for months and suddenly vanish like thin air, leaving her with the thought, “Men, he probably does this to everyone.”

What about a couple living together in the same apartment, what seems like the perfect life is not so perfect after she finds out that he’s been living two lives but one is not with her.

“All men are not the same,” an optimistic told me once and it got me thinking, true that all men are not the same, but somehow somewhere deep inside their souls, there’s this thing that dates back a thousand years ago, the hunter’s thing.

The so called nice man who picks you up everyday and gives you roses for three months still has the hunter’s soul, once we give in; they are fulfilled, almost like the chase is done.

I guess you can’t really blame us women to have the benefit of the doubt, after all loyal fish maybe easy to find but to stay in tune with that fish does take a lot of work, understanding, and more understanding.
